How can we sustain such a mive public sector of employment?

Much as everyone moans about it, we don't have a choice but to sustain it. The public sector does have some overpaid idiots but the vast majority of public sector workers are those we need to keep our infrastructure going - they include teachers, prison officers, street cleaners, sewage workers, care workers - many doing jobs that we would not like to do. Loads are on minimum or just above minimum wage. Their pay can hardly be cut and if they work all their lives in these roles, then they deserve the pension - they do far more for all our well being than some morally corrupt banker or politician who is just out to screw us for every penny he can get for himself!
